RareX, a rare earth mineral mining company, has announced that its 2022 drilling project is off to a good start after demonstrating the substantial scale of the Cummins Range deposit. RareX’s Cummins Range project is a project that deals with drilling rare earth metals, especially Neodymium and Praseodymium (“NdPr”). These two rare metals are crucial to producing permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and advanced weapons systems.
RareX announced that “The three diamond drills that have been completed to date have extended mineralization at Cummins Range, with all holes intersecting what is called ‘visual mineralization’.” The company continued by saying that this was an outstanding result, one which confirms the substantial scale and quality of the Cummins Range REE deposit. The Cummins Range project is located 130km southwest of Halls Creek in the Kimberly region of Western Australia.
The statement released by the company reads, “Drill hole CDX0020 has intersected mineralization 250m down-dip of hole CDX0016 (which intersected a cumulative total of 51m at 2.5% TREO) in the main fault position, while CDX0020 also finished in the mineralization, extending the known mineralization to at least 500m below surface.”
With REE’s managing director Jeremy Robinson admitting that the scale of the system is enormous, the company had made a great start to the 2022 program with drilling exceeding expectations and going a long way to vindicating the exploration target published earlier this year.
“Importantly, we have already demonstrated that the scale of the system at depth is enormous, with the known dip extent of the mineralization having effectively been doubled to 500m with hole CDX0020,” said Robinson.
He continued, “This hole also suggests that there is no depth constraint to the mineralization, which means that it could continue to grow with deeper drilling.”
Although three holes were drilled, Holes CDX0021 and CDX0022 have both tested extensions to mineralization that were defined in the 2021 drills. The third hole, CDX0023 drilling, is currently underway, with water bore drilling ongoing and a second diamond drill rig scheduled to arrive on June 10.
The RareX Cummins project has shown promising potential, and it is expected that this project will yield a very good end-product.
