Alibaba (NYSE:BABA)
According to a report in the business journal STAR Market Daily on Friday, the tech giant Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) is looking for enterprises to test its Tongyi Qianwen AI chatbot. This comes as the company joins the race to replicate the phenomenal success of ChatGPT. As a result, Alibaba’s stock surged.
The no-cost version The large language model (LLM) program known as ChatGPT was developed by OpenAI, which is supported by Microsoft. It was made available to the public in November of last year. It can generate articles and essays on demand in response to user suggestions.
STAR Market stated that Alibaba has opened up registration for firms to perform testing for its artificial intelligence application. The source needed to provide more information.
Reuters received confirmation from someone familiar with the situation that the program was an LLM geared at business customers.
A teaser was released on Friday by the cloud computing subsidiary of Alibaba. The message on social media simply stated: “Hello, my name is Tongyi Qianwen. This is our first time meeting; I welcome your feedback.”
The official website for the chatbot application just offers spaces for users to input their phone numbers and email addresses to request an invitation. However, the website needs to give information about the program’s functionality.
In response to a request for comment addressed to Alibaba Cloud, the company did not immediately answer.
An official launch is scheduled at an event hosted by Alibaba Cloud on Tuesday. At the occasion, a talk is planned to be given by Daniel Zhang, who serves as CEO of the Alibaba Group and the cloud segment of the corporation.
One more company that has entered the AI chatbot competition is Baidu Inc (NASDAQ:BIDU), which has an application called Ernie Bot. However, it is now only available to trial customers.
On Saturday, the artificial intelligence (AI) model that Huawei Technologies has developed for natural language processing (NLP) is going to be shown at an event that will be held by the company.
In addition, SenseTime will be hosting an event the following week to demonstrate “recent breakthroughs in the field of artificial intelligence software.”
Alibaba said last week that it would reorganize into six independent subsidiaries, each with its own board of directors and chief executive officer. It is expected that Zhang will continue as CEO of the cloud division.
