Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has officially launched Duet AI for Developers, a suite of AI-powered tools aimed at assisting in code completion and generation. The release follows the initial announcement of Duet AI in May 2023 and signifies Google’s commitment to advancing its generative AI capabilities.
Key features of Duet AI for Developers include real-time code suggestions, chat assistance, and customization options tailored for enterprise needs. The tool focuses on various aspects of code development, such as code/boilerplate generation, inline code completion, code explanation, and code security guardrails.
To enhance the capabilities of Duet AI, Google has forged partnerships with 25 companies, including Confluent, HashiCorp, and MongoDB, to leverage datasets for more comprehensive and accurate assistance. This collaborative effort aims to assist developers in writing code for diverse platforms.
The move positions Google to compete with Microsoft, which offers a similar tool called Copilot through its subsidiary GitHub. Google’s Duet AI for Developers is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its Google Cloud offerings and boost generative AI capabilities.
In addition to this development, Google has introduced Gemini, a new large language model available in three different sizes (Ultra, Pro, and Nano), catering to various application needs. The company has also launched MedLM, a family of generative AI models designed for the healthcare industry, offering applications in medical documentation testing, drug development research, and chatbot provider identification.
The generative AI market is experiencing significant growth, with reports projecting its value to reach $191.8 billion by 2032, witnessing a CAGR of 34.1% between 2023 and 2032. Google, along with competitors like Microsoft, Amazon, and Adobe, is actively investing in and advancing its generative AI capabilities to capitalize on this growing market.
While Google Cloud has become an integral part of Alphabet, contributing to 10.9% of the third quarter’s total revenues with year-over-year growth of 22.5%, the company’s efforts in generative AI are expected to further strengthen its position and contribute to overall financial performance.
As Alphabet’s model projects Google Cloud’s 2023 revenues at $32.5 billion, indicating a year-over-year growth of 23.9%, the company aims to continue capitalizing on growth opportunities in the generative AI space.
