Good afternoon and welcome to another episode of Investorideas.com “Potcast” featuring cannabis news, stocks to watch as well as insights from thought leaders and experts.
In today’s podcast Investorideas interviews CEO Daniel Grimm and Vice President Billy Roberts, Co-Founders of Good Stuff Beverages Co., where we discussed the companies recent rebranding, what separates Good Stuff Beverages from its competitors as well as the ups and downs of the cannabis beverage sector in California.
The idea for Good Stuff Beverages Co. came in 2015, when Dan Grim and Billy Roberts, life-long friends from New Jersey who had migrated to Southern California, understood the need for a product that not only made you feel better without the side effects of alcohol or smoking, but tasted better than most of the cannabis-infused beverages currently in the market. In 2016, Good Stuff Beverages was founded in San Diego, California.

Having grown up in New Jersey, I was all about focusing on making money, being a “business guy” and “having it all” in my 20’s. The day I accomplished all that, I looked around and said to myself, “that’s it?” Feeling unfulfilled, I travelled to Asia for a few years, learned meditation, Yoga and other disciplines, and returned back to the U.S. focusing on social work with the elderly and taught preschool. Returning to the corporate world creating sales teams in the telecom industry, I took a chance visiting MJ Bizcon in Las Vegas in 2015, learning as much as I could about the industry. I came away understanding that there was a need for a product that not only tasted good, but could make you feel better without the side effects of alcohol or smoking. So, in 2016, Good Stuff Tonics was born, with the goal of not JUST creating a product people love, but also giving back to the community and people in need, especially pain management. Our mission is to give away a certain amount of hemp based CBD to people who can’t afford pain management.
When I’m not managing Good Stuff Tonics employee and customer satisfaction, I’m practicing guided meditation with my wife or hanging out and having fun with my two young boys.

CEO Dan Grim and I have been friends since we were 14 years old growing up in New Jersey.
Similarly, to Dan, I also wanted to be successful, having been instilled with an entrepreneurial spirit by my father. Unlike Dan, I didn’t have any interest in making my fortune on Wall Street. So, I moved out with some friends to Southern California, making my way any way I could, hustling at any job I could until I settled down in the San Diego area. My experience with entrepreneurial start-ups, new businesses and searching for alternative medicines to modern pharmaceutical methods is what led Dan and I to being working together. At Good Stuff Tonics, I concentrate on sales and new business opportunities. But, outside of work, I live for health – running, biking, yoga and spending as much time at the beach with my wife and dog. I am a firm believer in not taking pharmaceutical medication without absolutely knowing the reason why, and for creating your own health by taking a clean approach to your diet and lifestyle.
Commenting on what seperates Good Stuff Beverages from its competitors, Grimm commented, “we make finely crafted, richly flavoured, natural ingredient, cannabis infused beverages. We are in a market in California that is often driven by the race to the bottom to keep margins low. We are positioned as a premium product and do that by producing a highly crafted and rich tasting functional product by doing something that is a bit unique, which is using terpene infusions that make the product functional. We call them Sativa Energy, Indica Calm and your more classic Hybrid, but a terpene infused Hybrid.”
Continuing on to discuss the company’s emulsion technology and unique branding Grimm commented, “I believe that the winners in this space will create the best effect and create custom effects. That technology is evolving and we are highly in touch and invested in the leaders in the space. We’ve been in this space since 2015 and we’ve seen the ups and downs and we know that consumers are looking for an experience. We call it Sativa Energy, so it’s “energy” for the cann curious and “sativa” for the cannasseur. We are very focussed on how we create custom effects, because at the end of the day that’s what people really want.”

that Good Stuff Beverage Co moved production of its assortment of natural tonics to Tinley’s facility.
GSBC’s classic flavours contain an innovative, terpene-infused formula. The highly anticipated, refreshed lineup showcases the brand’s introduction of strain-specific, high-dose tonics. These products include an enhanced Raspberry Lemonade branded as “Sativa Energy”, a Strawberry Hibiscus Lemonade branded as “Indica Calm” and the original Honey Lemonade, which is a best-of-both-worlds hybrid. The production move will also yield a first for GSBC: a highly coveted 100/100 CBD-THC Black Cherry Lemonade.
