SACRAMENTO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / May 24, 2022 / SPI Energy Co., Ltd., (NASDAQ:SPI) (the “Company”), a global renewable energy company and provider of solar storage and electric vehicle (EV) solutions for business, residential, government, logistics and utility customers, today announced its SPI Solar division has begun development for a 7.2MWac/8.39MWdc community solar project on 34 acres in Southern California.

Approximately 33% of California’s electricity came from renewable energy in 2019 and the state is targeting 50% renewable generation by 2025.
SPI Solar’s new solar project is within Southern California Edison’s electric service territory and will participate in the Enhanced Community Renewables Program. The project is projected to begin operations by the end of 2024 with the solar array expected to produce 21 gigawatt hours in its first full year of operations.
