Google, a division of Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL), continues to push the boundaries of functionality in its Google Home application. The recent introduction of new automation features stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation.
The latest update includes the rollout of 18 new automation capabilities, both in terms of starters and actions.
Users now have the ability to leverage signals from their smart home devices, sensors, and electric vehicles (EVs) to initiate various automation tasks.
These new starters enable users to experience seamless operations like automatic thermostat deactivation when windows are open, receiving a music playback signal when EVs are being charged, getting alerts to open windows when indoor temperatures exceed 80 degrees, having speakers automatically mute when music is paused, and turning off humidifiers when humidity levels dip below 40%.
Moreover, users will now witness lights turning on automatically upon detecting movement in a room.
In terms of new actions, users can now experience a subtle pulse in bedroom lights when the doorbell is pressed, as well as lights gradually brightening over an hour after dismissing an alarm.
Furthermore, users can exercise control over various devices such as TVs, music players, video games, vacuums, sprinklers, dishwashers, washers, and dryers by pausing, unpausing, or managing their operations.
These enhancements are expected to significantly drive the adoption of the Google Home application.
Firm Commitment to Elevating Google Home
In addition to these recent advancements, Google has incorporated camera starters and customized notifications into the Google Home script editor. New Routine starters include features like identifying a delivered package, detecting familiar faces, and recognizing dogs.
Furthermore, the introduction of the household routine feature within the Google Home app is noteworthy. This feature empowers users and their household members to define specific device actions and modify them as needed.
Additionally, the desktop version of the Google app now enables users to view all connected camera feeds simultaneously or individually. Users can also remotely control camera states and monitor their status.
